Illinois Fire Departments
See how this helps you!
ISO
is an acronym for
Insurance Service Organization.
ISO
rates fire departments on a scale of
1
through
10, 10
being
the worst level of fire protection, with
1
the best. ISO then publishes this rating to insurance carriers. Many
insurance companies use the I.S.O. scale in determining rates for homeowners
insurance.
How does this effect my insurance rates?
Your homeowners insurance rates are based on many factors such as your
credit rating, your fire departments ISO class, and your previous losses.
Most insurance companies utilize the ISO rating in their calculations for
your premium. Some insurance carriers utilize a different format.
Generally, if your credit rating is good you should see a reduction in your
homeowners insurance premiums. The amount of savings will vary from
carrier to carrier . A recent survey by our department found savings from
$49.00—$215. 00, In one case a homeowner reported they saved over $300.00.
You should check with your insurance company and discuss our Class 4 rating
with your agent. It never hurts to shop around and find premium amounts of
several insurance companies before making a decision on which insurance
company to go with.
Some
other factors that determine homeowners insurance rates are: Your home or
business is within a 5 mile proximity of a fire station, and proximity to
fire hydrants.
Promises Made, Promises Kept
The Beach Park Fire Protection District is committed to providing a highly
professional fire and emergency medical service to the residents of our
District. During our recent endeavor in securing funding for our ambulance
service several promises were made. One of those promises were that our
I.S.O rating would be reduced and you would see savings in your insurance
rates relating to fire protection. Our reduction to a Class 4 demonstrates
the progress that we have made toward providing a top level fire and EMS
organization.
Another promise is that we would staff our fire station with personnel 24
hours a day. Currently, a minimum of 3 firefighter / EMT’s are staffing our
station 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Often we have more than 3 personnel
in the station.
Also
In order to offer more medical options for ourresidents we now transport
to St Catherine’s and Auroura hospitals in Kenosha, Wisconsin for non-trauma
related emergency medical calls, and Lake Forest and Condell hospitals in
Illinois.
